Working with CODEXIS AI in our firm
For me, my colleagues and our trainee lawyers, CODEXIS AI is an everyday tool in our practice. We use it daily to search legislation and specific statutory provisions, and also to verify procedural filings. It also helps with routine tasks, such as calculating fee tariffs that we would otherwise do by hand. Where CODEXIS AI helps us the most is with time-consuming legal research and searching in areas we do not normally cover.
Before we adopted CODEXIS AI, we had to manually look up the relevant statutes and commentaries and verify the correctness of our filings. That process often took tens of minutes. CODEXIS AI provides a complete list of the relevant regulations. The “where do I even start” stage simply disappears, and instead I gain the confidence that I have gone through every relevant source.
Take, for example, the question “What majority does the municipal council need to approve a zoning plan?”. CODEXIS AI was able to answer and immediately, on its own, provided related contextual information and suggestions for further questions on the topic that would otherwise, across separate research tasks, have taken up to an hour. CODEXIS AI thus anticipates follow-up steps on its own, saving time even before the user asks anything further.
Another example: verifying the correctness of a procedural filing – once complicated, now a quick confirmation.
The benefits we see
To sum up, with CODEXIS AI I save time and improve the quality of my output, because I can focus more on strategic thinking.
For cases with a standard delivery deadline we of course managed to get everything done before as well. But today we no longer have to allow for long hours of research and can devote more attention to the strategy of preparing the case.
Occasionally an urgent request comes in, where the client calls in the morning and needs an answer by the afternoon. In such cases the difference is significant – the answer not only goes out in the afternoon, but can go out an hour earlier. That increases client satisfaction and the firm’s flexibility.
A recommendation for fellow lawyers
I have already recommended CODEXIS AI to colleagues from other firms, because it works brilliantly.
I see the greatest benefit of AI in legal practice in the automation of routine tasks and in quickly navigating legal regulations.

FFK legal law firm
Our law firm FFK Legal has four in-house attorneys, one cooperating attorney, two trainee lawyers and two students. We work in general practice, but focus most on three areas. First, civil matters such as drafting contracts, real estate transfers and corporate matters. Second, public administration, where we provide a comprehensive service for municipalities, from zoning and land-use planning through administrative offences to environmental law. The third area is ex officio criminal cases. We look at the law in context and focus on both everyday and specialised advice.
