CODEXIS AI vs CODEXIS AI Agent

CODEXIS AI and CODEXIS AI Agent are two levels of the same AI assistant. If you already use CODEXIS AI and are wondering what the newly released Agent brings, here is the difference.

CODEXIS AI — chat

An assistant for quick legal questions and research. Ask in plain language and CODEXIS AI searches the authoritative sources in CODEXIS and answers with a link to the source. You can upload a document straight into the chat and have it assessed. You also have memory and assistants at hand — both the ready-made ones from classic CODEXIS and your own, which you set up yourself.

It is a chat over legal sources, as you know it. It has no agentic layer: add-ons, skills, automations, apps, custom AI agents, or a connection to your files and integrations.

CODEXIS AI Agent — the platform

A full agentic platform. In addition to everything in the chat, you get work with files and folders, shared folders, automations, add-ons, skills, apps, your own custom AI agents and integration with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). It also comes with ready-made agents and add-ons from us, so part of the work is handled right away.

The agent also handles multi-step tasks and creates across the whole environment — and you don't even have to upload files to it; you just give it access to your folders on your disk, OneDrive or SharePoint.

How to switch between them

In the CODEXIS AI Agent environment there is a Chat / Agent switch at the top:

• Chat is available to anyone who has CODEXIS AI.
• Agent requires a separate CODEXIS AI Agent licence. Once you have it, the agentic features and the Microsoft Office integration are unlocked.
